Job Purpose

The Cashier position ensures efficient, accurate, and friendly checkout service while maintaining company procedures and customer satisfaction standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers courteously at the till point.
• Follow cash-up and register procedures accurately.
• Process cash, card, and EFT payments efficiently.
• Ensure all sales are captured correctly on the system.
• Pack purchases neatly into shopping bags.
• Conduct daily cash-ups and handovers securely.
• Be vigilant of suspicious activity and report irregularities.
• Promote and process gift cards and customer reward points.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cashier station.
• Participate in stock takes and assist other departments when required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 1 year of cashier experience in a retail environment
• Completed Brights Induction (Service Excellence) training (advantageous)
• Clear credit record
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet daily demands
• Team player with minimal supervision requirements
• Organisational ability and multitasking skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays
